Nilson Pimenta exhibition reaches London

Jungle Drums and Leros, October 2007. Created and supported by ToBeTupi and curator Roberto Rugiero from Galeria Brasiliana, Nilson Pimenta came to London for his first UK exhibition at ZiZi Gallery, in Mayfair. The event was funded by the Brazilian Contemporary Arts (BCA) through a grant from the Grants for the Arts Scheme of the Arts Council England and was part of BCA's 25th anniversary celebrations.

More about Nilson Pimenta

Nilson Pimenta is one of the most important Brazilian naive artists. The show was a unique opportunity for art lovers to witness paintings of movingly quality and authenticity. Nilson Pimenta documents the villages, the forests, the river, the indians, and the animals, of the inland Western Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, with such purity, vivacity and richness of detail, that ones first reaction on seeing his work is to visit these places, before they disappear.

Sadler's Wells Brazilian Carnival

22 July 2007. ToBeTupi helped to organise the colourful Brazilian market in Spa Green park, with Brazilian food, drinks and crafts, alongside Capoeira, face painting and more. The event was a huge success, with thousands of revelers lining the closed streets of Rosebery Avenue and Exmouth Market to witness some authentic Rio Carnival vibes provided by legendary samba school Mangueira and London groups Paraiso School of Samba, Quilombo do Samba and Mandinga Arts.
